"Bits and Pieces" Cole Borycens & Kristy Milner, 6 March 2009

UPCOMING EVENT

FRIDAY | 6 March 2009 | 7-10pm

The Crossley Gallery at Ringling College of Art and Design invites you to the opening "Bits and Pieces", a show featuring the work of Cole Borycens and Kristy Milner. Both of these artists create unique installations by using cheap or found material.

Cole Borycens explores new ways of making art by combining audio mixing with installation. He collects audio samples from consumer items that people may unintentionally ignore and organizes them into one piece. His installations are visual representations of sound and his placement of objects are very spontaneous. By hybridizing audio and installation Cole is giving the viewer the perfect opportunity to understand and appreciate his entire process.

Kristy Milner is driven by obsessive compulsion and a fascination with the relatively unknown world that exists on our ocean floors. She captures a sense of pattern, color, and shape and incorporates them into her "growths". By purchasing cheap, readily available craft store materials, Kristy builds these creature-like forms to exaggerate the bizarre in nature. Her tedious process of common craft materials is her physical realization and mental obsession.
