The Bee's Knees - Sept. 31, 2008

UPCOMING EVENT

TUESDAY | 30 September 2008 | 7-10 pm

press release

The Crossley Galley and Ringling College of Art & Design is pleased to announce the opening of “The Bee’s Knees.” Five artists from differing majors will take part in this exhibition. Photography majors Michelle Fisher and Natalie Molinari, Fine artists Gregory N. Dirr and Valeri Marquis and Illustrator Januari Navarro will present works on paper, photographs, sculptural objects and paintings.

In addition to selected individual pieces, the artists will transform the white space of the gallery by creating an environment that better accentuates their work. Vintage furniture and accessories, as well as a collaborative centerpiece installation reference the domestic 1930’s and 40’s and serve as an “ode to a forgotten era that is long gone, yet alluring for its mystery and aging beauty.” The gallery entrance will also be considered to create the desired atmosphere.

“We want the exhibition to be an example of how five very different artists from significantly different majors can collaborate together in a gallery atmosphere that is outside the comfort zone and constraining boundaries of our fields.”
